Sending a Broadcast Message
A step-by-step guide to composing, targeting, and sending a one-off broadcast notification from the Notifications tab.
A broadcast is a one-off wallet notification you compose and send to some or all of your enrolled customers.
Broadcasts vs automatic triggers
A broadcast is something you actively write and send whenever you choose — a weekend promo, a new-item announcement, a one-time reminder. That's different from automatic triggers, which fire on their own once you turn them on. Use a broadcast for anything that isn't tied to a customer reaching a specific moment like a stamp or a redemption.
Before you start
Check the quota strip at the top of the Notifications tab to see how much of your message balance is left — a broadcast counts against it the same as any trigger.
Compose and send
- Open the composer
Go to the Notifications tab and find the Recipients composer.
- Write your message
Keep it short — for example: "Weekend only: bring a friend and both get a stamp."
- Choose your audience
Pick everyone, a lifecycle band, a specific card, or a hand-picked list — see Audience targeting.
- Send now or schedule
Send immediately, or set a future date and time — see Scheduling and working hours.
Checking delivery
Once sent, your broadcast shows up in the History / delivery report with a status per customer — see Delivery: Apple Wallet vs Google Wallet for what each status means.
Next steps
- Target the right audience for your broadcast
- Schedule a send for later instead of right now
- Read your delivery report after sending
Frequently asked questions
How is a broadcast different from a campaign?
A broadcast is a single one-off notification sent from the Notifications tab. A campaign, built with the Campaign wizard, runs a multiplier or gift program over a window of time — see Using the Campaign wizard.
Can I send a broadcast to just one card?
Yes — use per-card targeting in Audience targeting to reach customers of a specific program only.
