Targeting the Right Audience
Choose who receives a broadcast — everyone, a lifecycle health band, a specific card, or a hand-picked list of customers.
Before you send a broadcast, you choose exactly who should receive it.
The four targeting options
- Everyone — every customer enrolled across your cards.
- Lifecycle band — a health-band segment, such as customers who are Slipping or At risk. See Lifecycle health bands.
- Per-card — customers enrolled in one specific card or program.
- Hand-picked — search for and select individual customers by name or number.
Choosing the right audience
A broad promo works best sent to Everyone. A re-engagement message is more effective aimed at a lifecycle band like Slipping or At risk (see Lifecycle health bands) than blasted to your whole list. If you run more than one card, per-card targeting keeps a message relevant to the program it's about.
Hand-picked for special cases
Hand-picked targeting is the right choice when a message is only relevant to specific people — for example, a small group of VIP customers, or someone who reached out with a question. Search by name or phone number and select exactly who should receive the message.
Combining targeting with scheduling
Once you've picked an audience, you still choose whether the message goes out right away or later — see Scheduling and working hours. Targeting and timing are independent choices in the same composer.

Frequently asked questions
Can I target more than one lifecycle band at once?
Targeting is set per send from the available options in the composer; check the current composer for whether multiple bands can be combined in one send.
Does targeting change how much of my balance a broadcast uses?
No — every recipient who receives the broadcast counts as one message against your balance, regardless of which targeting option you used.
