Apple Wallet enrollment
What happens when an iPhone customer scans your QR code — the form, adding to Apple Wallet, and how geofencing works.
On an iPhone, scanning your card's QR code ends with the card added as a pass in Apple Wallet.
What the customer does
- Scan or tap the link
The customer scans your QR code or opens the enrollment link in Safari.
- Fill out the form
They fill in the enrollment form fields you have configured for the card.
- Add to Apple Wallet
They tap to add the card, and it appears in Apple Wallet as a pass.
What you get with Apple Wallet
- Lock-screen notifications: messages you send reach the customer's lock screen through Apple's push service.
- Geofence messages: Apple Wallet can show the card automatically when a customer is near one of your branches, using a radius you set between 50 and 500 meters, up to 10 branch locations per card. Set this from the Branches screen and the Notifications tab.
- Automatic updates: republishing a card pushes the change to every holder's pass.
Setting up the geofence
The geofence isn't automatic just because you have branch coordinates on file — it's a setting you turn on. Set the radius (50–500 m, in 50 m steps) from the Branches screen and the Notifications tab's Location card, and it applies per branch, up to 10 locations for a single card. A customer's Apple Wallet card doesn't create a geofence just because their card shows your address text; it comes from this specific setting.
What updates trigger
Beyond geofence and republish updates, staff actions in the Scan tab — adding a stamp, awarding points, or redeeming a reward — can trigger their own wallet messages, if you've enabled the matching automatic trigger in the Notifications tab. Apple Wallet delivers all of these the same way: a push through Apple's service that refreshes what's on the customer's lock screen.
If a customer removes the pass
A customer can remove your card from Apple Wallet the same way they would remove any pass, and there is no separate step on your side when that happens — they simply stop receiving lock-screen updates and geofence messages until they enroll again through the QR code or link. Nothing about your card, your other customers, or your dashboard is affected.
Staff can still look a returning customer up by phone number from the Scan tab, which is useful if you need to help someone re-enroll after they removed or lost their original pass.
