What a Wafeq connection changes for your shop
Wafeq handles ZATCA-compliant invoicing for a growing number of Saudi businesses, and every one of those invoices already carries the information a loyalty program needs — who bought, how much, and when it was paid. Without a connector, that information stays inside Wafeq; a cashier still has to scan the customer's wallet card separately for the reward to register. Connect Wafeq to Waya and the two steps become one: the invoice gets paid, and the reward follows on its own.
Nothing about issuing or managing invoices in Wafeq changes. Waya reads paid invoices after the fact; it never touches how an invoice is created, taxed, or filed.
How a paid Wafeq invoice becomes a Waya reward
Here's the chain of events once the connection is live:
- History doesn't travel with the connection — Waya starts reading Wafeq invoices from the moment it's connected, never before.
- The only thing tying a Wafeq invoice to a Waya customer is a matching phone number; there's no secondary check against an email address.
- Reaching the shop's minimum invoice amount — 15 SAR is the default, though it can sit anywhere from 1 to 10,000 SAR — is what triggers a stamp on a stamp card.
- Points-based cards calculate the reward as the invoice total times the shop's points-per-SAR figure, 1 out of the box and adjustable from 0.1 up to 100, with the result rounded down.
- Store credit through balance or cashback cards only happens once a merchant has switched on a cashback percentage; it stays inactive by default.
- Waya checks Wafeq in the background on its own schedule, so a freshly paid invoice typically shows up as a stamp within minutes.
Turn on API access in Wafeq, then connect it in Waya
Wafeq's API keys sit behind its Developer settings, and — unlike some connectors — Wafeq also requires your account to be on its Starter plan or higher before it will issue one at all; that's a Wafeq-side requirement, separate from your Waya plan. The Wafeq connection guide covers every screen; the shape of it is below.
- Confirm your Wafeq plan supports API access
Check that your Wafeq account is on the Starter plan or above — API Keys won't appear under Developer settings otherwise.
- Open Developer → API Keys
Inside Wafeq, go to Developer → API Keys, where you can create and manage keys for outside tools like Waya.
- Create the key and enable it
Click Create, confirm access is enabled for the key, then copy it before leaving the page.
- Select Wafeq inside Waya's Apps screen
Navigate to Settings → Apps in your Waya dashboard, where Wafeq appears alongside Waya's other supported connectors.
- Finish the connection
Drop the API key into the single field provided, pick the branch this connection covers, set the minimum paid-invoice amount, and save.
What the Wafeq connector costs
Getting Wafeq connected doesn't cost anything on top of what Premium already costs: 149 SAR monthly, or 1,520 SAR billed yearly. That single number is what turns on unlimited customers, cards, branches, and staff accounts, plus the entire connector lineup — Wafeq included, never billed as an extra.
Two tiers sit underneath Premium for shops not ready to upgrade. Free costs nothing and never expires, limited to 100 customers on a single stamp card; Growth costs 85 SAR a month, or 867 SAR paid for the year. Both still show the Apps screen — locked, not hidden — so the upgrade stays visible before it's paid for. Whatever volume of Wafeq invoices the connector processes each month, the Premium price doesn't change. The three tiers, compared are laid out in full elsewhere.
Waya plus Wafeq against the rest of Saudi loyalty software
The comparison below reflects what each vendor states on its own pricing and integrations pages as of September 2026 — a snapshot, since these details shift over time, so double-check directly with the vendor before deciding.
'Not listed' simply means the vendor doesn't address that column anywhere in its own materials, and as of this writing none of the platforms in the table mention Wafeq as something they connect to.
| Platform | Cheapest paid tier (SAR/mo) | Free forever plan | Apple & Google Wallet | Customer app needed | Integrations on the vendor's site |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Waya | Premium 149 with integrations, Growth 85 without them | 0 SAR, free forever, up to 100 customers | Yes / Yes | No | Daftra, Qoyod, Loyverse, Zoho Books, Wafeq, Odoo, Rewaa |
| Niqati | 49.99/mo (499.99/yr) | Free tier caps at 50 customers | Yes / Yes | No | Foodics, Odoo, Shopify, WooCommerce, own POS via API |

What connecting Wafeq won't do
Reading paid invoices is the whole job. Here's what sits outside that scope.
The one extra thing Wafeq asks for
Every connector on this list needs an active Waya Premium subscription, but Wafeq is the one that also gates its own API behind a plan tier: you need the Starter plan or higher on Wafeq's side before Developer → API Keys will even offer to create one.
If that setting isn't visible yet, it usually means the Wafeq account is still on a lower tier — upgrading inside Wafeq unlocks the API Keys screen, and from there the rest of the connection to Waya works the same as any other provider: generate the key, paste it once, and Waya takes over from there.
Frequently asked questions
What does the Wafeq connector cost beyond Waya Premium?
There's no add-on fee — the connector rides on the same 149 SAR-a-month (or 1,520 SAR-a-year) subscription that unlocks everything else on Premium.
Do I need to change my Wafeq plan to connect it to Waya?
Possibly — Wafeq only issues API keys on its Starter plan or higher, separate from whatever Waya plan you're on.
How does Waya match a Wafeq invoice to the right customer?
By phone number only, matched against the number on the customer's Waya wallet card. Email isn't used for matching.
Will connecting Wafeq bring in my invoice history?
It stays untouched. The connector's clock starts at the moment you save it, and everything before that is left alone.
Does the Wafeq connector work with a POS terminal like Foodics?
Waya does not connect to Foodics or Marn, and there's no POS-terminal integration at all. It reads Wafeq's own paid invoices regardless of what rang up the sale.
