The reward-redeemed message is a thank-you, not a receipt

A reward-redeemed message fires the moment a customer cashes in a free wash, and it's tempting to write it like a transaction log — "reward redeemed" and nothing else. That undersells the moment: the customer just got something for free because they kept coming back, and the message should feel like a thank-you rather than an accounting entry.

It's also the natural place to reset expectations for the next cycle, since the stamp count goes back to zero right after redemption. A good reward-redeemed message does both jobs in one short line.

SituationEnglishArabic
Standard free wash"Enjoy your free wash! Your next stamp card starts today.""استمتع بغسلتك المجانية! بطاقتك الجديدة تبدأ اليوم."
Mobile / on-site wash"Free wash redeemed — see you at the next round of 6.""تم استخدام الغسلة المجانية — نراك في الجولة القادمة من 6."
Premium detailing add-on redeemed"Reward redeemed! Ask about our detailing upgrade next visit.""تم استخدام المكافأة! اسأل عن ترقية التلميع في زيارتك القادمة."

One line, sent at the moment of the wash, not later

This message should be short enough to read in the two or three seconds a customer glances at their phone before driving off — under 80 characters is a safe target. It's not the place for a long explanation of how the program works; that belongs on the welcome message the customer already received when they enrolled.

Because it fires at redemption, not at some arbitrary later time, the message can reference "today" or "this visit" directly, which reads as more personal than a message that has to stay generic enough to make sense whenever it's read.

Automatic by default, and it should stay that way

Reward redeemed is one of Waya's four automatic triggers, alongside welcome, stamp added, and 14-day win-back. It fires the instant a staff member marks a reward as redeemed on the customer's card, with no manual step required beyond writing the message text once in the dashboard.

Because redemption happens at unpredictable moments throughout the day — whenever a customer's stamp count reaches the threshold — there's no practical way to send this manually per customer. Automatic is the only version of this message that scales past a handful of redemptions a week.

  • Reward redeemed → automatic trigger, fires the instant staff mark the redemption
  • Message should thank the customer and reset expectations for the next cycle
  • Keep it under about 80 characters; it's read in a glance, not studied
  • Works the same way for a fixed location or a mobile / steam-wash setup

Set up the reward-redeemed trigger in four steps

This is a one-time setup that then runs unattended for every redemption on the card.

  1. Step 1: decide the tone

Choose whether the message thanks the customer, previews the next cycle, or both in one line.

  2. Step 2: write it in the trigger settings

Open the reward-redeemed trigger under the card's automatic messages and enter the text.

  3. Step 3: check it against your reward type

A free wash, a discount, and a detailing upgrade each need slightly different wording — match it to what the card actually rewards.

  4. Step 4: redeem a test reward

Enroll and stamp a test card to the threshold, redeem it, and confirm the wallet notification reads correctly before customers see it.

It shares the same message balance as everything else

Reward-redeemed messages draw from the same monthly balance as campaigns and every other trigger — 100 on Free, 5,000 on Growth, unlimited on Premium. A single-branch wash redeeming, say, 20 rewards a month uses a small slice of that allowance compared to stamp-added messages, which fire far more often.

If a shop is watching its Free-plan ceiling closely, the reward-redeemed trigger is rarely the one to worry about — it's the higher-frequency stamp-added and campaign sends that typically use up the 100-message allowance first.

Pair it with a geofence nudge for the next visit

A reward just redeemed is also the best moment to remind a customer their next card is starting fresh. Geofence messages, which fire when a phone is near the branch, can quietly reinforce that a few weeks later without spending message quota — Apple Wallet only, up to 10 branches, radius 50–500 meters, set from the Branches screen.

The reward-redeemed trigger and geofence aren't competing for the same moment: one confirms the redemption instantly, the other brings the customer back weeks later when they're already nearby.

The redemption itself still happens by hand

Waya has no POS or till integration, so a staff member marks the reward as redeemed on an ordinary phone, the same device used to add stamps — nothing about redemption happens automatically at checkout. There's no SMS version of this message either; it's a wallet lock-screen notification only.

On Android, staff use the web dashboard rather than a native merchant app for this step, since the Android merchant app is in closed testing.

Frequently asked questions

What should a car wash's reward-redeemed message say?

Thank the customer and reset expectations for the next cycle in one short line, such as "Enjoy your free wash! Your next stamp card starts today." Keep it under about 80 characters.

Should reward-redeemed be an automatic trigger?

Yes. It's one of Waya's four automatic triggers and fires the instant staff mark a redemption. Redemptions happen at unpredictable times through the day, so a manual message per customer doesn't scale.

Does the reward-redeemed message use the monthly message balance?

Yes, it draws from the same balance as campaigns and other triggers — 100 on Free, 5,000 on Growth, unlimited on Premium — though it typically uses less of that allowance than the higher-frequency stamp-added trigger.

Can a mobile or steam-wash business use the same reward-redeemed trigger?

Yes. The trigger fires the same way regardless of location; the message text just needs to avoid assuming a fixed shop address if the wash happens at the customer's home or workplace.

Is a reward marked as redeemed automatically at checkout?

No. Waya has no POS or till integration, so a staff member marks the redemption on an ordinary phone, the same way stamps are added, rather than the till doing it automatically.
